I serve as the Teaching Pastor at 3BC. My prayer is that my life and teaching would bring glory to Jesus Christ, build up His people, and equip us for mission in every sphere of life.
My wife, Corina, and I have been members at 3BC since 2011, when we moved back to Murfreesboro and I began work at LifeWay Christian Resources as the managing editor of The Gospel Project and now the Bible and Reference Publisher. We have three children - Timothy, Julia, and David.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Pastoral Theology from Emanuel University of Oradea, Romania (2005), a Masters of Divinity from Southern Seminary (2009), and a Ph.D. in Theology from Southeastern Seminary (2015). I've also written several books, and my blog is hosted by The Gospel Coalition.
Executive Pastor & Worship
It's my desire is to see the church worship in response to the glorious grace God has given to us. As we worship, we will celebrate who God is, celebrate what he has done for us through his Son, Jesus Christ, and celebrate the preaching of the Word.
As executive pastor, I'm fortunate to lead a group of pastors as we serve alongside the people of 3BC. I also have the privilege of leading our church as we worship.
I was born in Austin, TX, but grew up most of my life in Columbus, MS. I graduated from Mississippi State University (B.M.Ed. '84), Louisiana State University (M.M. '85) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
My wife, Michelle, and I have been married over 30 years and we have two sons - Griffin, a physical therapy student at Belmont University, and Penn, a nursing student at Motlow State Community College.
Other than my family and church, I love hunting (especially ducks), fishing, baseball, and my chocolate lab, Kinley.
Pastor - education & senior adults (since 1996)
I came to 3BC from First Baptist Church, Summit, MS. I grew up in Knoxville, TN and like many from that area, I have a keen interest in The Big Orange. I have been married since 1985 to Melissa and we have two daughters, Megan and Taylor.
We have enjoyed our time in Murfreesboro and have been amazed by its remarkable growth. 3BC is a great church and I feel very fortunate to have served on staff here for so long.
Pastor - college and missions (since 2003)
I have been in full time ministry since May of 1982. I am a graduate of William Jennings Bryan College in Dayton, TN, and received my Master's from Dallas Theological Seminary. I have been married to Amy since May 1982. Amy is the director of 3BC's ARK program and serves as pianist for the worship team. I have two children, Jonathan (and his wife Sally) and Beth (and her husband Nick, and children Brook and Kit James).
My passion is to see people in a real life, intimate relationship with Jesus. This has always been a foundation of my ministry. As our love for Jesus is real, then an outgrowth of that will be a love and care for others. In my various roles of college, missions, and evangelism, my desire is for people to have a passion to know Jesus, and because of that relationship to begin serving others to help them to achieve that relationship with Jesus.
Daily, Amy and I are thankful that God allows us the privilege to be at 3BC. This is such a warm, caring, community of believers. We are humbled by the fact that God has called us to be at this place. My prayer is that I will live up to the responsibility that I have as a pastor to this group of believers that God led me to. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of you.
Pastor - students (since 2011)
3BC Student Ministry is a place where teenagers can engage the living God and the local church. Here we have a passion for the Scriptures, love for students, and drive for the Glory of God.
I completed my Bachelors of Arts at Union University in Jackson, TN in 2002. Then I received my Masters of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY in 2007. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D in theology and apologetics from Liberty University.
God has blessed me with an amazing family. I met and married my best friend, Leslie, in 2004 and we have seen our family grow through the years. We have 5 great kids; Karis, Eli, Luke, Silas, and Zoe, who fill our home with love, scribbly artwork, tea parties, wrestling matches, and too many wonderful memories to describe.
Pastor - preschool & children (since 2014)
My area of ministry is to children and their families from birth through fifth grade. It is my desire to see children grow to become disciples of Jesus Christ.
I was born and raised in Wetumpka, Alabama. I married my beautiful wife, Alyssa on July 19th, 2014. In July of 2016, our first child, Jonah, was born!
In 2008, I graduated from the University of Mobile with a Bachelor's Degree in Theology. I received my M. Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in the Winter of 2012.
Pastor - the Hispanic community (since 2000)
Before coming to 3BC in January of 2000, I served as associate pastor in the Hispanic Ministry at First Baptist in Smyrna, TN. It's been a tremendous joy and blessing to serve God thru the body of Christ called Third Baptist. My responsibilities are in the areas of preaching, education, and HELPING PEOPLE DISCOVER… A LIFE WORTH LIVING!
Through the power of Jesus Christ, we help believers become MATURE disciples of Christ in the Hispanic Ministry.
My wife Consuelo and I have been married since 1993 and have been blessed with our daughter, Tania. She was born on February 14, 2004. I grew up in Chihuahua, Mexico, and Consuelo grew up in El Salvador.
It is exciting for both of us to serve God in Third Baptist Church with others who have the love and passion to reach NOT only the Anglo community, but also the Hispanic and all the nations.
Business Administrator (since 2003)
I have been a member of 3BC since 2001 and a ministry assistant since 2003. I now serve as Business Administrator, overseeing the finances, human resources, and the church office.
Before moving to Murfreesboro, I worked in the accounting firm of Gillespie & Sherrod in Maryville, TN, for 7 years. Prior to that, I was ministry assistant at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Maryville, for 9 years.
My husband, Scott, and I moved to Murfreesboro in 2000 from Maryville, TN. We have two daughters, Morgan (and her husband, Nate), who teaches 2nd grade at Cason Lane Academy, and Julianne, an RN at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Scott works in the auto division at State Farm.
