Mike Lee, Senior Pastor

Ministry: Sermon Series

I came to 3BC in August of 2002. I was serving as an associate pastor at a church in Houston, TX. What a joy it's been to serve the body of Christ called Third Baptist. I look forward to many years of ministry and growth in Christ. I am blessed with a beautiful wife, Dena, who I married in 1983. We have three children: Madison, Hunter, and Chandler. I grew up in Bartlett (Memphis area) and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1981. I received my Bachelor's degree from East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, TX in 1987. I completed my Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2000. I am currently working on a Doctor of Ministry in Missions, Evangelism and Church Growth from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

I believe God has called me and our church to help people discover a life worth living through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Through the preaching of the Word of God, people come to know the Truth which sets them free! I am excited about our Lord's work in our midst and believe that we will continue to impact our neighborhoods, our city, our county, our state, our nation, and our world as He strengthens us.

I grew up in Knoxville, TN and graduated from Karns High School. My education back ground includes a Bachelors of Arts in Communication from Carson-Newman College, Jefferson City, TN 1988 (I played football at Carson-Newman from 1984-1987) and a Masters of Arts in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth TX, 1992.

I have served First Baptist Church, Dallas, TX as Recreation Intern, Bartlett Baptist Church, Bartlett, TN as Associate Pastor for Recreation and Single Adults and Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church, Knoxville, TN as Executive Pastor.

It is exciting every day to serve here at 3BC and help people discover a life worth living.

Mark Moore, Associate Pastor

Ministry: Worship

I came to 3BC in July, 2003. I have served churches in Mississippi and Georgia as minister of music since 1990. My wife, Michelle, and I have have two sons – Griffin and Penn. I was born in Austin, Texas, but grew up most of my life in Columbus, Mississippi. I graduated from Mississippi State University (B.M.Ed.'84), Louisiana State University (M.M.'85), and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (D.M.A. '90). My passion in ministry is to lead and see believers worship an Almighty God. At 3BC, I believe that people can discover a life worth living through authentic, true worship – worship that is not staged, but instead flows out of a heart that realizes and celebrates a God of grace.

Steve Hutson, Associate Pastor

Ministry: Senior Adults

Thanks for visiting our website. I have been on staff at 3BC since August of 1996. I came to Third from First Baptist Church, Summit, MS. I grew up in Knoxville, TN and like many from that area; I have a keen interest in The Big Orange. I have been married since 1985 to Melissa and we have two daughters, Megan and Taylor.

We have enjoyed our time in Murfreesboro and have been amazed by its remarkable growth. 3BC is a great church and I feel very fortunate to have served on staff here for so long.

My area of responsibility is senior adults and pastoral care. I believe seniors have so much to offer and have given so much to our congregation. We always need people to help in this ministry. If this is something you feel led to participate with, please let me know.

Dave Odom, Associate Pastor

Ministry: College, Single Adults

I joined the incredible staff here at 3BC in May, 2005. I am a 1999 graduate of Auburn University at Montgomery and a 2005 graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I am originally from Montgomery, AL, which makes me a huge Alabama Crimson Tide fan. My wife's name is Mary Beth, we have a daughter named Anna Grace, and a son, Jackson. Our interests include friends, movies, and watching and playing all sports!

I am humbled each and every day for the privilege of serving such a great church. The college and singles groups here at 3BC make this a dream job. It is our passion to see college students and single adults in Murfreesboro "discover a life worth living" through Jesus Christ. We pray that God will continue to equip us as we seek to faithfully carry out that which He has called us to do.

Duane Geib, Associate Pastor

Ministry: Youth

I have been at 3BC since April 1, 2003. I have been in full time ministry since May of 1982. I am a graduate of William Jennings Bryan College in Dayton, TN and received my Master's from Dallas Theological Seminary. I have been married to Amy since May 1982, and have two children. Amy is a fifth grade teacher at Kittrell Elementary and also is 3BC's pianist. JD, my son, is a graduate of Bryan College and Beth, my daughter attends Colorado Christian University pursuing a degree in Global Studies with the hopes of being a missionary.

My passion is to see people in a real life intimate relationship with Jesus. This has always been a foundation of my ministry. As our love for Jesus is real, then an outgrowth of that will be a love and care for others. In our youth ministry at 3BC, my desire is for teenagers to have a passion to know Jesus, and because of that relationship to begin serving others in the youth ministry and the church. We design our ministry so that teens who don't know Jesus can find a place of love and acceptance, and through this loving atmosphere, be introduced to Jesus. Once they receive Jesus as Savior, we want to be a place where they can continue that relationship through a community of believers.

Each day I wake up and am amazed that God is allowing me the privilege to be at 3BC. This is such a warm, caring, and real community of believers. I am humbled by the fact that God has called me to be at this place. My prayer is that I will live up to the responsibility that I have as a pastor to this group of believers that God led me to. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of you.

Karen Jones, Minister

Ministry: Preschool and Children

It is my privilege to serve as Minister to Preschool and Children at Third Baptist Church. I joined the staff here at 3BC in January of 2007. I am originally from Bremen, Georgia, which is a small town in northwest Georgia. I earned a B.A. in Mathematics at the University of West Georgia in May 2001. I completed my M.A. in Christian Education at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in December 2004. I am a 2002 AmeriCorps alumni where I served through Hands On Atlanta as a Service Leader at West Fulton Middle School in inner-city Atlanta. I am also a former North American Mission Board US/C2 Missionary where I served in Tampa, Florida for two years. My assignment was Director of Mission Tampa. Mission Tampa is non-profit organization created by Seminole Heights Baptist Church to engage churches throughout the Tampa Bay area in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ by utilizing ministry-based evangelism.

God has called me to minister to preschoolers, children, and their families. He has placed in me a passion to see children enter into a real and personal love relationship with Jesus Christ and through that personal relationship, see the transforming work of the Spirit in their lives. The Preschool and Children's Ministry at 3BC finds its foundation in the communication of biblical truth. We strive to equip and empower families in instilling within their children the building blocks essential for a life-long devotion to Jesus Christ. Our intention is that Christian education would be incorporated in every aspect of a child's life. It is through this real and personal relationship with Jesus Christ that preschoolers, children, and their families will discover a life worth living!
